A Trial of Sparks & KIndling Cover Reveal

I should probably have waited with this until a bit closer to publishing day, but hey, who cares. I can haz cover, and it is glorious. That glorious, BTW, sounds in my head as Varvatos Vex would say it.

For the design of this cover, I once again teamed up with the endlessly talented and all-round fabulous Tallulah Lucy. Working with this lady is a breeze, I tell you. It literally came down to pinning a few general ideas to a shared pinboard, and she rolled with it.

Since she totally gets what I want and I trust her judgement completely, there’s not even a footlong email trail explaining what should be going on in this cover. She simply made it, and it rocks.

If you’re ever in the market for a cover designer that knows her stuff and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg, give Tallulah a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Now, this cover. There’s a lot of symbolic stuff going on in there, and I’m just awed at how well it all came together. This dress, for example. Cara wears a lacy, floral dress during one of the most important scenes in the entire book. Tallulah didn’t know this, yet chose this look for the cover. Because she’s a mind reader and all. πŸ˜› It’s a sign.

But okay, I reckon I’ve gushed enough, and you want me to get on with it already.

I hope you like the cover as much as I do.

I cannot wait to see this baby in print! I mean, look at this gem.

I can’t stop staring at it.

Okay, on to the important stuff. This sequel to A Study of Ash & Smoke will be published April/May 2020. I’ll let you know as soon as the pre-orders go up. πŸ™‚

Meanwhile, I blogged about it a bit earlier this week, not knowing I’d have a cover to share so soon! So, if you want a bit more detail about A Trial of Sparks & Kindling, and read the opening paragraphs of the document as they currently are, head over to this post.

Thanks again to Tallulah for her wizardry–I can’t wait to do this with you again.

Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thank you! She’s really done an awesome job of keeping the covers matchy, yet true to what happens in the book. She’s really a mind reader. πŸ™‚
