Cover Reveal

If you read Friday’s blog or noticed my Facebook post on Saturday, you knew this was coming.

Fall of the Mantle got some brand new covers.

Now, I know the old covers have a cult following (there’s like 5 of you, so it’s definitely a cult 🤣) but I’d like to assure you this wasn’t a light decision on my part. You all know how I feel about the old covers–they were exactly what I asked for and more, and they look amazing on my shelf. But the hard truth is, at a glance, nobody can tell what the genre is or for which age group these books are intended. And people really do judge a book by it’s cover.

So, after lots of long discussions, my cover artist convinced me the series needed a new look.

I’ll be honest with you, I was really reluctant. She pointed out that almost all books out there have multiple cover options and publishing houses update the look of books all the time. That helped. Besides, this doesn’t mean the old covers have to disappear! I’ve always planned to bring out a different cover for the hardback edition once the series is complete anyway (it’s going to be awesome BTW, with a little Mantle running over the spines). Call this a practise run.

Fast forward to weeks later, and here we are. The day of the big reveal.

Tallulah is a cover genius. She understands the way my brain works so well, and created something thoughtful and intricate, once again going beyond what I expected. The textures and hidden gems had me staring at these works of art for hours, and I still find little details that make me smile. And the best part is, I sent her in with even less directive than last time. Seriously, folks, she’s a magician. If you ever need a cover made, what she’s created for FotM is just the tip of the iceberg of her talent and creative eye.

My patrons got to see the WIP cover for A Study of Ash & Smoke weeks ago, and I revealed both covers to my newsletter family yesterday. I’m super excited to finally share the updated Fall of the Mantle covers with you, too!

Don’t you just love the dreamy, mysterious quality of these babies? Also, Cara seems to be on fire on the second cover. Squee!! Please let me know what you think in the comments.

Don’t be alarmed if you only find the old covers for a while, they’ll be updating all over the internet in the next few weeks. The old covers are still available in print, but we’ll update them if there’s a great enough demand.

Okay, so the new covers need new trailers, right? I’ve created a brand new book trailer for A Study of Ash & Smoke, and am working on one for A Trial of Sparks & Kindling. This is what it looks like.
