Gingerbread House

When we saw gingerbread house kits in Michael’s the other day, my husband immediately knew we had to build one together. He’d always wanted to try baking a gingerbread house, but I’ve never been that interested in art of the food variety. Sure, I bake when I have to, but I much prefer a paintbrush to an icing pen.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed decorating the house, though. It’s such a fun family activity! Kayla loved licking the icing off her fingers, and I loved the concentration on her face as she decorated the house.

We made a game out of it and asked her to place the coloured candies in specific patterns, or to pick certain colours for certain parts of the house. So, educational too. Meh, who am I kidding? The real purpose of this house is to eat, educational or not!

I took some photos of the process to share with you today. Enjoy!

Hope you have a good week!
