It’s already September, I know. I’ve had a lot on my mind lately. 🙂 I certainly didn’t think I’d be doing this with all the insanity going on in my life right now, but I’m happy to report that I’ve been writing something amid the chaos!
My good friend Tallulah and I just finished a short fic for Cullen Appreciation Week. It was my first fan fic and also my first collaboration, so I learned a lot from this exercise. I’ll definitely write some more fan fic soon. 🙂
The first scene I had to write stressed me to the max, but once I got into it, I had loads of fun. Working with Tallulah was a breeze! She’s on AO3 as Withah and has some incredible fics of her own. You really want to read them!
Our co-written fic is over here or here, so head on over if you’re a Dragon Age fan (and if you aren’t, check it out too!!). 🙂
I’m also happy to share that my blog was featured over on Sophie Melissa’s blog. I’m completely humbled and awed that such a thing could even happen. She deserves some love too, so head over and have a look. Since she and I tackle similar kinds of topics, you will like her corner of the interwebs too.
Meanwhile, I’ve had some feedback from one of the betas on The Physician’s Apprentice. Cristy Zinn is a writer too, so having her help on my little novel was so amazing. Plus, her feedback was awesome! I was also lucky enough to beta Cristy’s upcoming project, which is going to blow your mind. Watch this space.
And Cristy brings me to the next batch of news. I’ve become a part of the Skolion Writers group, where she’s a member, along with Cat Hellisen, Masha du Toit, my fabulous editor and the founder of the group, Nerine Dorman, and many others I admire. Being counted among those insanely talented writers, editors and designers is almost too much for my circuits to compute. I’m going to publish TPA through Skolion next year, and will share some of the group’s projects with you here.
You can follow Skolion on Facebook and Twitter, and also become a part of the street team. A what now? A street team!
Becoming a part of the street team means getting free review copies of Skolion books, being able to beta read certain novels, or getting other behind the scenes content or interactions with the authors.
*Sales pitch incoming.* If you like reading, this is the opportunity for you! It’s completely free to sign up and you get to choose the genres of novels you love – you won’t be bombarded with stuff you don’t read. And you don’t have to sprinkle glitter over stories you don’t like – the reviews should be honest, this isn’t candy-for-your-likes. 🙂 If you don’t have a blog, that’s not a problem! You can also post reviews on Goodreads, Amazon, or any social media. As long as the word gets out about these projects, you’re golden.
If you’re keen on the stuff above, please follow the link to the sign-up sheet. We have some incredible novels getting ready for release, and I guarantee you’ll love them.
I’ll talk about I Heart Robot by Suzanne van Rooyen (coming September 26th) soon, but until then I’ll just say this novel has officially joined Yolandie’s Top Ten Favourite Novels Of All Time. You read that right. This book is seriously incredible.
And that’s about it from me for today. Hope you have a good weekend! See you on Monday.
