I’m working on a new writing project, so of course I need a notebook. And, instead of giving in to the urge to purchase a new one, I delved into my stash (because all creatives with ADHD have a stash of unused note-taking supplies). I’m so proud of myself, that I might just splurge on a new notebook. 😋
Anyway, my stash included a plain blue Dollar Store notebook and inspiration struck. The cardboard cover would handle paint well, so why not paint it?
On a rainy Monday, while listening to the audiobook of Paladin’s Grace, I did just that.
I really love minimalistic landscapes and have painted/digitally created a series of artworks in that style. These are some of my favourites.

For this glam-up, I used:
- A white watercolour pencil for the linework.
- Liquitex Basics acrylic paint and Mont Marte Metallic Acrylic Colour. Since I mixed the colours, I can’t list the exact shades I used, but they include blues, purples, and peachy pinks.
- A blue Tooli Art Paint Pen.
I started by sketching the design onto the notebook, using a white watercolour pencil.
From there, I blocked in the colours and gave each a second coat as necessary. I kept the blue of the notebook as the sky, but painted everything else.
I lined the artwork with a paint pen once everything had dried (and maybe my hair dryer came out to speed up the process…🙃).
The painting took about three hours to complete. Quick and easy, and I’m so happy with the outcome!

Until next time.
