Weekend in Cold Lake

We went away for the first time in, like, ever, and it was incredible. Worth every second of the 6-hour drive, worth every mosquito bite, and worth the ‘spot the *insert colour here* car’ games born out of serious boredom.

That said, I don’t want to come off as insensitive. It’s starting to feel something closer to normal again in my part of the world, for which I’m so grateful, but I’m aware that everyone isn’t as lucky. I’m thinking of everyone who is sick, mourning, or still stuck in lockdown.

Anyway. It was so amazing to just be among people again (and I’m such a homebody) that I didn’t actually take photos of it all. Just a few snaps here and there, but the memories will last way beyond the photos anyway. But don’t worry, those pics that did end up on my camera roll will obviously make it into this post. 😀

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves, but I will say this. Holy crap, Cold Lake chose its name well. Here in Calgary, we have plenty of glacial water in our rivers and lakes, but the Bow River is a hot spring in comparison with Cold Lake. And yet, Kayla kept jumping in. I’m raising a mermaid, folks.

Have a good one, friends!
