I’ve Added a Social Media Manager to my Team, Introducing LuminLore, and Other News

Friends, it’s been a WEEK. In fact, it’s been a few weeks, and I kind of feel like scrambled eggs. So much has happened, so I figured it was about time to fill you in.

I’m fully vaccinated

I’m so happy that the second vaccination has officially been crossed off my list, though I will not lie, I felt like crap afterwards. Besides the killer headache and the stiff arm, I had major fever and fluey vibes which had me out of commission for a day and a half. This post was supposed to be done by yesterday and is late as a result. The vaccine was still totally worth it! And I’m feeling much better now. 🙂

On that note though, my thoughts are with everyone who has tested positive or has lost someone to this disease. At this stage, South Africa has been hit with an insane third wave. Many of my family and friends are sick or have been sick in the last few weeks, and it’s tough. Thinking of all of you!

Meet Ashe

They are a mysterious social media wizard and I don’t even know how I’ve been surviving without them this long. My patrons will even get to meet them in the bonus podcast episode set to air on the 30th of June 2021!

Anyway, Ashe has been working on my art Instagram for three weeks now, during which time there have been massive changes to the way I do social media. The feeds look different, and we’re working on strategies to improve the rest of the feeds, too. Loads of changes incoming, folks. The biggest change is this one–we’ve completely rebranded my art business.

Introducing LuminLore

It’s no longer called Yolandie Horak Art, so you might have lost track of me over on Instagram. But I’m extremely excited to announce the new name of my art and storytelling endeavours, LuminLore.

The inspiration for the brand comes from gaslamp fantasy (check out my podcast on the topic here). It’s an eclectic kind of genre and can’t be defined as being just one thing. Which is probably why I’m so drawn to it. Or one of the reasons anyway.

Those of you who have been on this journey with me will know that I struggle to keep within the rule constraints of social media. I’ve blogged about this a few times, but in the most recent post on the topic, I talked about how I want to break free. How I want to change.

LuminLore will be the place where I can make that change. It’ll be a corner of the internet where I can be both author-Yolandie and artist-Yolandie, and also social-media-shy-Yolandie. And it won’t even matter because Ashe will entertain you on my behalf. I’m so excited about this journey.

Other news

While I’ve been putting a lot of stuff at the bottom of the to-do list because I had more important things to get to, Ashe reminded me that the bottom of the list stuff can be important, too. So, I’ve finally ticked off two really old items on the list:

I hope you enjoy them! I’m also working on an aesthetic board for A Trial of Sparks & Kindling, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. I’m seriously enjoying Pinterest again, folks. Be a dear and give me a follow?

Meanwhile, I’ll be expanding to more diverse art styles. I love the stained glass art, really, but there’s more to me than just stained glass. So I want to make loose, flowy botanical designs, grungy ink pieces, and so, so many others. We’re in the process of setting up additional online stores, so look out for LuminLore on Redbubble! We’ll be adding new products during the next few weeks. 🙂

My patrons can also expect some cool new art stuff from me. I’ve created two sticker sheets with soft botanicals and watercolour finishes for July, and I seriously can’t wait to share them!

Thank you so much for sticking with me on this journey.
