Montecasino Bird Gardens (Vacation Pics Part Two)

I mentioned in the first vacation photo post that we did one touristy thing while in South Africa, and this is it.

When Kayla was about a year old, we also visited the bird gardens. Since she doesn’t remember that, and she’s quite the zoology buff, we reckoned she might enjoy going again.

So, on a sunny and HOT Saturday, we headed down to Montecasino.

Now, my one goal in South Africa was to get a tan, and amid the chaos that was this visit, the day at Montecasino was the only chance we had to soak up the sun. I swear I tried. Really. But the only thing I have to show for my valiant attempt at catching some rays, is a pair slightly darker shoulders. Yay me.

Anyway, the bird garden at Monte is always a fun trip, so if you ever find yourself in good old Johannesburg, this is an enjoyable family outing. I know hanging out at a casino with your family isn’t widely practised in Canada, but I promise there’s lots to do at Montecasino. Besides, you actually have to be older than 18 and have identification to enter the casino part. And no, this isn’t a sponsored post.

Have a look at the photos.

We had so much fun checking out the birds, reptiles, and other animals. Kayla especially loved the reptiles. Thanks again to Ouma and Oupa for taking us on this little adventure. It was awesome. Miss you guys.

Thanks for stopping by.
