My recent interest in embroidery led to a needle shoved so deep beneath my fingernail that I legit blacked out. And instead of retiring all pointy objects in my house, I’ve created a new pattern that I intend to embroider. Because why not?
I’m obsessed with stained glass. It’s a bit of a thing with me. So, of course, I looked at my embroidery stuff and thought, hmm, this would look great in stained glass.
I went ahead and designed a flying dragon design for this project. It’s heavy on the line art, leaving large areas for single colours, creating a faux stained glass effect.
I’m also thinking my punch needle might be a good addition to this project, as it allows blocking large areas in basically no time. Honestly, though, I don’t really have a plan. I’m going to trial and error this project, then check in with you once it’s done.
Meanwhile, I figured it would be fun to share the pattern with you! Feel free to use it for personal projects, and contact me for details on a commercial licence (and a high def design that will print much larger).
The art is inspired by Tairn, complete with morning star tail. I’m planning on using a super dark blue for him instead of black, just to stay on theme with the whole light-through-glass-thing. I might also use dark brown for the line-work instead of black because the leaded parts of stained glass are usually more of a faded brown than black. But again, no solid plans here, so tune in again to see how it turns out.
Until next time.
