But first, a disclaimer—this post isn’t sponsored and all opinions are my own. With that out of the way…
I’ve been intrigued since I first saw NookTales book nooks in our local Discovery Hut. It just makes sense—good books take us to different worlds, so why wouldn’t we add tiny worlds to our bookshelves?
We were lucky enough to receive a Sakura Town book nook for Christmas, and I wasted no time building it (that is, as soon as all our boxes were unpacked).
The kit includes everything except batteries: glue, electrical parts, sanding paper, and a detailed instruction booklet.
The building process is easy to understand. Each segment is broken into simple steps, which is great since the overall build felt more complex than the Rokr wood puzzles we’ve built. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this tiny town come to life, and the detail of the build blew my mind. A lot of care went into the design of the book nook, and it shows.
I struggled with the final assembly. Fitting all the segments onto the base plate was one thing, but adding the sides of the box took some finagling. And another pair of hands. Or two.
That said, this is one of the most fun builds I’ve ever done. It’s a great family project, including electrical elements, that teaches kids STEM even while it entertains. Also, seeing the finished nook on the shelf has been the source of multiple whoops whenever my kid passes the bookshelf.
And this might sound super geeky, but I love that it lights up. It’s the smallest thing, but it really does make the scene come alive.
Have a look at the photos.

What’s your favourite part about this build?
Until next time.
