Summer Vacation Pics

We’re super thankful to have had the opportunity to travel to the UK again this year. We got to catch up with family, sightsee with Kayla, and have an absolutely lovely time.

And since our brand new passports cut the need for travel visas and our connecting flight brought us to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, we spent a day exploring a tiny part of Texas.

Our first time visiting the United States was wonderful. Extremely hot but wonderful. 🤣

We arrived around lunchtime, so our first stop was Cooper’s Old Time Pit BBQ, located across from the Fort Worth Stockyards. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to visit the Stockyards this time, but we hope to go back and properly explore the area one day. Cooper’s was our first experience with pit-style barbeque, and it didn’t disappoint. You could feed a small army with all the food we got, and besides being delicious, it was excellent value for money!

Next, we braved the heat and took a quick tour around the Fort Worth Water Gardens, then returned to the airconditioned rental and drove around Dallas. We spent a while exploring the Dallas Farmer’s Market, but my phone had almost run out of battery by that time, so no photos.

We arrived in London the next morning, where it was fantastic to meet up with family.

This holiday wasn’t about sightseeing as much as it was about spending time with family, and I loved the no-rush approach to vacationing. We thoroughly enjoyed the trampoline and pool at my brother- and sister-in-law’s house. I swear, Kayla would live in the water if she could. 🤣

That said, she’d been a sick and bothered two-and-a-half-year-old the last time we’d visited the UK, and she asked to see the sights again this time. So, we took her on an ‘essentials’ tour of London: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, and we strolled along the Thames to see the famous bridges.

We also spent a day at the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, which was a big hit with the kids (and adults 🤭). Kayla loved the space-themed exhibit and the presentation about fireworks.

But all good things must end, and we returned home after a few weeks of fun.

Here are some of the photos.

Until next time!
