Here’s an interesting turn of events. I don’t know what to blog about.
At first, I couldn’t understand what the hell this caused this sluggishness. Sure, blogging is difficult sometimes. I’ve been doing this for six years and I know ideas dry up at some point. That’s why the blog changed its direction even before I moved here from the Couch. Still, I was on a roll a while back, so this drought is both unexpected and seriously annoying.
Then it hit me. I’ve been writing again.
Maybe the lack of inspiration for the blog is a result of the overflowing inspiration for my novel. I’ve always been a one-track pony in a certain sense. Working on more than one project at a time has been a struggle from the start. In fact, I find it difficult to read more than one book simultaneously, or watch more than one TV show, or play more than one game, and so on. I tend to latch onto something, binge consume and go into a kind of shock when it’s over.
My brain has only one USB port. Or, it used to. I’ve been training (read *forcing*) myself to consume more than one thing at a time. It’s been difficult, but successful. I have more ideas, especially when making art, and my frame of reference keeps growing.
Having said that, blogging feels like a chore at this stage. I hate that feeling.
Documenting our lives on the blog has been an excellent way to observe personal growth. I can’t tell you how big a difference I can see in myself by just going back and reading some of my first posts. My writing has improved, expressing thoughts has become easier and I’m coming at you with a little more life experience too.
The point is, I don’t want to stop doing this. I just need a little help to continue. Let me know what you’d like to read about and I’ll write that post. Please.
Last week, I mentioned that accountability makes me work harder. It comes down to the same thing in this regard. People have asked me to write about topics well out of my comfort zone in the past, but the fact that I would fail that person if I didn’t get the post written was the biggest factor pushing me to get it done. In the end, some of those posts became some of the most popular ones on the blog.
I want you to enjoy hanging out with me here, so please, nudge me in the right direction. I need all the help I can get. 🙂
Have a good one,
