I announced sometime in October that I was going to join the madness and attempt NaNoWriMo this year.
Goodness. Do I feel like an idiot. ( ◄ Not a question, that. It’s a fact. :P)
I know I can write 50 000 words in a month, I’ve done it before! I wrote 130k words in 7 weeks in the beginning of 2015, after all (watch this space). But then, chaos struck just at the end of October and my NaNoWriMo effort has gone pretty poorly.
Don’t ask me too much about this chaos that struck. Just know that I had to change editors on The Physician’s Apprentice, and this has caused my publishing date to move from November 2015 to somewhere in 2016. It’s also meant that I spent days revising and reviewing the manuscript before sending it to my new editor (whom I’m super excited to work with). All of this means that NaNo got off to a pretty poor start. I’m writing at the speed of sound now (I’m writing between 6000 and 8000 words a day at this point), trying to fix that. I have no idea if I’ll be able to do the 50k words in time, but we’ll see.
I haven’t updated my word count again, but I’ll do that soon. I’m currently at 24,836 words, all written since last Tuesday. I know. I know. Haha.
I’m also announcing now that I won’t upload the manuscript in a readable format to the competition site. I’m going to use a word scrambler. The reason for this is that I’m currently working on the sequel to The Physician’s Apprentice, and I’m not planning on uploading the follower to a book that HASN’T BEEN PUBLISHED YET.
Even if nothing I write now ends up in the finished novel, I’m still glad to be writing again. This is good exercise and it helps to be busy. It also keeps the creative juices flowing and story-lines blooming in my mind.
Sorry for not being that active on the blog lately. I’ve been in a funk. It’s Novemberitis at its best, paired with life-changing events and disappointments in people who are supposed to be professional. I hope you understand. My brother in law and my parents are coming to visit us in the next while, which means I might have more to blog about, because… sightseeing. There’ll probably be a lot of that.
Thanks for understanding and sticking around.
